Private, offline contact sharing without an account
Contact sharing should not require publishing your identity to the internet. For face-to-face introductions, a QR code can carry selected contact information directly between two phones.
What offline sharing changes
A standard vCard QR code contains the selected fields inside the code. Creating and scanning it does not inherently require a server. That makes it useful at conferences, venues, classrooms and travel situations where connectivity is unreliable.
Offline does not mean share everything. A QR code is visible to anyone who can scan it, so the safest approach is to create cards for specific contexts and show them intentionally.
- No public profile is required
- No login is needed at the moment of sharing
- The receiver can use the normal camera app
- You control which fields appear in each card
Questions to ask any contact-card service
Find out whether the card stops working when the service is unavailable, whether the recipient is tracked, and whether your information is stored on a company server. Check what is included in free and paid tiers before printing a permanent QR code.
Also consider deletion and export. A standard format makes it easier to move your own information without being locked into one product.
jekkil’s privacy model
jekkil stores your Info Bank on your device and creates standard contact-sharing QR codes without an account. It can work offline and lets you decide which saved details belong on each card.
For a one-time code, the free web tool on this site performs QR generation in your browser. Your form entries are not sent to jekkil’s servers.
Quick answers
Is a QR code automatically private?
No. Anyone who can see and scan a code can read its contents. Privacy comes from sharing intentionally and limiting the fields included.
Does offline sharing need Bluetooth?
No. A phone camera reads the visible QR code; Bluetooth pairing is not required.
Where does jekkil store my information?
The app is designed to keep the Info Bank on your device rather than publishing a jekkil profile.
